Holly KembleRepeated pattern has always been an interest to me.  Cross sections and segments based on seeds, avocados, pumpkins and melons influence the form and outer structure of my work.  The interior structure is based on the repeated pattern formed by layering pieces of slip onto one another. Each layer affects the next layer and determines how the layering will develop and create its own repeated pattern, creating surfaces, textures and forms which echo and copy that which is found in nature.

I want the pieces to represent opposites, with the layered interior element, contrasted with the very smooth hard lines of the surrounding wall and outer shell.  By using different clays for the exterior and a different clay for the interior will exaggerate the idea of opposites in the work.
