The development of a body of work evolving from wheel thrown forms
of vessels and enclosures.
The body of work reflects my engineering background. The use of
the sphere or globe being used as a basis for the development.
These forms represent the most powerful and strongest forms and
feelings known to man and reflect both the man made and natural.
The body of work will reflect the development of complex forms,
deriving from the original sphere, developed and culminating with
dissections and re-assembly into a multi sectional object based
on the development of the inner void. The forms allow the viewer
to explore and examine the inner space and outer inclusions, together
with the rationalisation of these spaces in the context of containment,
their presence in the space that they are displayed and the structure
of the making.
While at the juncture between the outer form and inner void, the
viewer is offered the opportunity to examine this relationship
and the merging of these exterior and interior deliminators. The
body of work reflects the formalistic values needed for the vessel.
Although wheel thrown and hand crafted, these forms display to the
viewer, clean, crisp engineered lines and form and exude a taught
ness from within, while maintaining a surface tactility, enhanced
with the application of natural stains. |
