Sian Pryce My work addresses the ambiguous relationship between space and form.  It is intended to challenge the perceptions of the viewer and question the presuppositions we place upon our immediate visual interaction with an object.

We are conditioned to regard empty space in a negative context, rather than evaluate its presence.  Without space, the work would be a series of clay slabs, whereas without the clay the spaces would still be present but with no framework to emphasize the importance of its individual existence.

Which then is the non-dominant partner in this ambiguous relationship, the clay form or the spaces within?
