Influenced by natural geological cycles such as weathering and folding, I question through my work, the degree of control can be attained in a process which in many ways is influenced by the nature of the material of itself, in this instance clay. I focus upon achieving different results through changing one element or condition and leaving the others constant. Emphasis is placed on the process of making rather than having a predetermined composition in mind: setting an event in motion, the process becomes an integral part of the expression rather than simply the means of achieving it. Through this investigation I intended to created a series of pieces, which have a synergy with nature, a celebration of natural processes and cycles. |
