My work reflects my interest in the genre of still life painting, and particularly those works which embody a muted and subtle atmosphere. I am primarily intrigued by ways in which the individual shapes within the competition interact when arranged in specific configurations. I have used the image of vessel as representations of the objects and for this purpose they have been created from thin slabs of porcelain paper-clay, allowing exceptional delicacy in the forms. Whilst the pieces are physically 'flattened'', the painted lines and shading have been employed to create the illusion of volume within the forms.
