My work investigates ideas of communication via a ceramic object by minimising particular visual information through a mathematical process. An iconic ceramic form has been chosen for dissection and reassembled by leaving out information that was felt to be superfluous. The process explores mass that is contained within a form, through an excavation of its internal core and re-presenting it in a sequential and subtractive way. The whole process questions how much visual information is really necessary in order to trigger and appreciate a work of art within the traditional discipline of ceramic design. |
