How can we make the interior felt and cheat the illusion of appearance? Anthony Gormley The body of work presented reveals certain outcomes of an investigation into the basic properties of sensorial and emotional existence manifest and perceived through the distortion of the human head. The innate qualities of the ceramic medium in partnership with the hand as a forming tool make visible and express the distortive forces of interior feeling. The viewer is encouraged through the reconfiguration to share in a direct felt bodily experience, rather than to engage the conscious mind alone to understand the work. |
